Maternity underwear needs vary depending on what stage of a pregnancy someone is wanting maternity sizes for, or extra protection during. Mainstream brands such as Old Navy and Target have maternity bra and underwear collections that are pretty widely used. Plus size pregnant people often opt for their high waisted designs for a better fit! The rest of the options here include period underwear, regular and disposable postpartum underwear, anti chafing shorts, and pads/wipes.

While buying new and cute underwear can be fun, sometimes splurging on a specific type of item that I sort of already have and that I am not going to use forever makes me want things to be more affordable than they are. That being said, all of the options I’ve listed have at least a few items on their website that are (to me) reasonably priced. They also all have some plus size options available, although I feel comfortable saying that there definitely should be more plus size options (but isn’t that usually the case.) There are a number of awesome brands and products out there, so feel free to comment and share what your favorites are for what stage and why!

Has maternity bras and underwear that you can filter by stages including 2nd/3rd trimester, post pregnancy, and nursing.

Target -

Has some boy short/brief type options for transgender/gender non conforming pregnant people who might vibe with more masculine styles of underwear.

Has a collection called Grow With Me - maternity underwear that stretches but doesn’t stretch out so they can comfortably be used for postpartum also. They also have all the underwear and casual clothing options you can think of for each stage of pregnancy.

Period underwear have more variety than pregnancy specific brands but aren’t fit for the size needs of a pregnant belly.

Has a plus size period underwear collection that goes up to size 8.

They also have lots of those options in their section for teens.

Postpartum underwear usually provides more heavy duty protection.

Disposable maternity diapers or underwear can be convenient for wearing right after birth and for the first few days post delivery. They only go up to S/M/L sizes but the "L" are suitable for people wearing up to size 18/20.

Has varying postpartum recovery underwear. They are on the more expensive side, but I've heard ple

nty of people share good experiences with them. Up to size 2X/3X.

Depending on the person's needs, other ideas include anti chafing shorts - Undersummer - https://undersummers.com/products/maternity-anti-chafing-shortlette-slip-short-9 has these in up to 4x.

Natural pads and wipes can be useful, ones that are unscented and cotton based help reduce chances of irritation - NatraCare is a good example - https://www.natracare.com
